Portal CMS has only been around for a mere 3 months but it has grown significantly. We still have lots of things we want to add to make it feature complete, but this post is about some of the new features we deployed over the past two weeks.
If you want to learn more about what new features are being developed, take a look at our GitHub Page where our Issues List contains all the enhancements we plan to make.
Role Driven Section Display
It has always been possible to only show certain Blog Posts or Pages to users if they have the right Role, but we extended this further to make it possible to show or hide sections in a page too.
To manage this you must click on the "Section Settings" and then select which roles are able to see your section, by default anybody can see them.
An example use case for this may be that your homepage tries to get visitors to register an account, so now you can show a different section to people who already have to help them engage more with your website.
We are planning to make the jump to Bootstrap 4 when it moves out of Alpha, Bootstrap 4 drops support for Glyphicons so we decided to prepare for this by switching over to Font Awesome.
It is true that we could have still used Glyphicons by adding those resources when we upgrade to Bootstrap 4, but Font Awesome has a superior catalogue of icons available so it made sense to use the opportunity to improve the offering.
We have also grown our Component Catalogue in the Page Builder, we now have new components for building FAQ style pages. We also have a new freestyle component that allows you to build really flexible blocks above and beyond what is possible by simply adding a paragraph or a title.
